When we were young, we were taught to respect our elders and filial piety is a lifelong duty.
Our parents fed us and gave us an education in the hope that we would do even better than them in our generation. Caring for them in their old age is an natural part of our duties in life.
We still teach our children to respect their elders and continue to hope that they will do even better than us in life. We however, no longer desire to look to them to provide for us in our old age.
